Texas Football: 5 Longhorns worth watching amid spring camp
One of the strongest and deepest position groups for this team entering spring camp is the receiving corps. Between all the talent and potency available for Texas football at wide receiver and tight end, this passing game shouldn’t skip a beat also considering Ehlinger will be back in the mix for his junior campaign.
Potentially the biggest breakthrough of the 2019 campaign for the Texas offense at wide receiver could be the rising redshirt freshman Joshua Moore. Since he played in just four games this past season, Moore did qualify for the redshirt waiver which still gives him four years left of eligibility on the Forty Acres.
Similar to the breakthroughs we saw from the wideout trio of juniors Collin Johnson, Devin Duvernay, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey largely thanks to the play of Ehlinger, Moore could be the next sleeping giant here. Since Humphrey declared he would be an early entrant for the 2019 NFL Draft, there is a big slot open in the Texas receiving corps this year.
This year we should see Moore emerge as one of the best route runners and most reliable wide receivers for the Horns. He showed a ton of potential in 2018, but injury and other competition at the position kept him from showing off a ton promise. He was able to catch his first career touchdown in the non-conference showdown last year against the USC Trojans.
