4. Road gets easier after Kansas

The amount that this Texas basketball team has to be chomping at the bit to get some revenge on the likes of the Texas Tech Red Raiders has to be insane. There really wasn’t another Big 12 opponent, outside of the Baylor Bears, that gave the Horns as many fits as Texas Tech during the two regular season meetings.

Big 12 play saw mixed results for the Horns, but there were two winnable games against the Red Raiders. What could happen if Texas manages to get through Kansas in its first meeting in the Big 12 Tournament, Texas Tech would likely be the opponent in waiting.

However, it is possible that Texas would draw either Oklahoma State or TCU. Texas also has just one combined win in four tries over Oklahoma State and TCU so there would be a ton of motivation there to nab a victory over either opponent. Texas clearly has the talent to compete with Texas Tech, TCU, or Oklahoma State, it just has to convert on the hardwood.

Between the likely last showings in Big 12 play for the trio of freshman forward Jaxson Hayes, senior center Dylan Osetkowski, and senior shooting guard Kerwin Roach Jr., there is plenty on the line against the Jayhawks. If the Horns can make a solid run through its first set of meetings in the Big 12 Tournament, we could witness something special in Kansas City this year.
