There’s quite a few spots on the depth chart that are thin on experience, but not talent, for Texas football after the start of spring camp.
The time is here for the look ahead to the depth chart for the Texas football program as we move into spring camp. As we move through the early portion of spring camp, there will be some key announcements and emergences that could mean a lot for the upcoming regular season. Yet, when it comes down to it, the exposure and reps that some of the younger and more inexperienced players will get is what matters most.
There’s going to be so many new faces on this roster for Texas football in 2019 that getting these reps is key to maximize. Bringing in 10 early enrollees will be very important down the road for head Texas football coach Tom Herman. It could also pay immediate dividends as it did this past season with a host of impact freshmen on both sides of the ball.
The defense especially for Texas football got a big boost last year with the talented third ranked 2018 recruiting class in the nation coming into the mix. That will also help the transition of losing so many starters across the board for this off-season.
What’s most important here for Herman and the rest of the Texas coaching staff is finding the right pieces to take over some of the key leadership roles on offense and defense. Texas lost all five preseason senior captains from last year’s squad.
