1. Cornerback

The most pivotal position for this coaching staff to figure out, or at least start to piece the puzzle together for, in spring camp is at cornerback. Since both of the starting corners from last year’s squad are headed into the 2019 NFL Draft, seniors Kris Boyd and Davante Davis, this position has a long way to go.

This position battle should mostly boil down to three starting options for the Horns for two spots. The least likely of the three to make a positive long-term impact is the third-year cornerback Kobe Boyce. It just seems like no matter what situation Boyce is tossed into, he has trouble excelling in any facet of his game.

The other two options that should be the focus of building up this position for the future are sophomore Anthony Cook and redshirt freshman Jalen Green. From the 2018 Texas football recruiting class, Green and Cook were two of the most highly touted four-star recruits and can finally get their shot to make a big impact on a regular basis.

There will be some growing pains at cornerback this year for Orlando and the Horns. Considering the secondary already played up and down through Big 12 play last season, it could be very difficult for the fan base to cope with at times. The good news is that the future here is very bright.
