2. Keondre Coburn

If only Texas football could find some sort of consistency at the defensive tackle spot for the first time since 2016-2017, defensive coordinator Todd Orlando would have a much easier time dealing with the roster turnover in spring camp than what actually exists. Departing senior stud Chris Nelson was a huge piece that flew under the radar for this defensive line in 2018.

Considering the Horns are set to lose the entirety of the starters along the defensive line, getting some reps for potential new starters is key. Texas does have some experience coming back to campus for spring drills and the spring football game this year that includes some upperclassmen like senior defensive tackle Gerald Wilbon and junior defensive end Ta’Quon Graham.

The future at defensive tackle for the Horns should be the former four-star signee from the 2018 recruiting class Keondre Coburn. Since he found his way to the Forty Acres last off-season, Coburn impresses in fall camp but is missing spring camp 2019, at least for some stretch of time.

Per Herman’s press conference initially this week, Coburn is dealing with some kidney issues and is actively undergoing blood tests while he goes through this recovery process. Herman also stated the results are “obviously good” but that this situation is also concerning. Hopefully Coburn will be back in the mix good to go by the start of summer workouts.
