Transfer market

Both the most intriguing idea for Texas football and the option that adds the most depth involves the transfer portal for the running back room. Since the portal was the factor that hurt the running back depth so much in the first place, the coaching staff has a big opportunity to shift the narrative and actually bring some talent to campus.

There is still a plethora of talent and experience at running back in the transfer portal that Herman could look into. Some options like former Nebraska Cornhuskers rusher Greg Bell and Florida State Seminoles four-star signee Amir Rasul. could still have some interest in making an impact for the Horns.

Per 247Sports, adding a running back transfer to the mix was “not a given” for Herman and the Horns. Although, that doesn’t make much sense unless Herman and Beck have something up their sleeve that is unknown to the fan base at the moment. Texas already turned to the graduate transfer market last off-season to help out.

If former Cal Golden Bears running back Tre Watson helped out a ton with the transition at the position this past season, doing something similar in 2019 makes a lot of sense up front. Finding the right option on the transfer market is important, but there are so many players in the portal right now that it has to be a look for the coaching staff this off-season.
