Texas Football: 5 bold Longhorns spring camp predictions
We’re right in the midst of spring camp for the Texas football program, with only a few weeks remaining until the Orange-White Game.
At this point of spring camp for the Texas football program, we’re about halfway through the drills phase. We’re also about halfway through the second week of spring practice in full pads as of March 27. This is a pivotal time to get extra reps before it matters most. Generally it’s better to get the key reps now and let younger players get more acclimated with some type of rhythm in place for fall camp.
Since the Texas football program already has so much talent on campus from the elite 2019 signing class, spring camp becomes even more important for the coaching staff. Positioning was the best solution is for the slotting for all of this promising talent on the Forty Acres is huge for head Texas football coach Tom Herman.
Moreover, this point of spring drills is about to end the second week of practice for Texas football and we have learned a lot already. This program was also bit by the injury bug big-time through slightly more than one week of spring practice in full pads. Hopefully, none of those injuries have too much of a long-term impact.
If nothing else, these injuries could at least open up the door to younger players looking for the opportunity to gain some headway and trust with the coaching staff. We’ll see what happens as the Horns inch closer and closer to the Orange-White Game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on April 13 with so many looming injuries to key starters.
