5. Roschon Johnson is the best looking quarterback

There is so much attention being paid to the quarterback situation for the Texas football program in spring camp due to the amount of roster turnover there thanks to the NCAA Transfer Portal. The trio of Texas quarterbacks including redshirt junior Shane Buechele, and the pair of redshirt freshmen Cameron Rising and Casey Thompson all put their names in the transfer portal.

Now, the Horns have Thompson back on the Forty Acres and Buechele joined the SMU Mustangs and Rising joined the Utah Utes, respectively. Thompson should takeover as the backup signal caller behind rising junior Sam Ehlinger. The offense would be best served if one of the two backups for the Horns could make some progress in spring camp, though.

To start spring camp, 247Sports reported that Thompson could even see some first-team reps with the offense to see how he gets acclimated with that group of surrounding talent. Yet, the former four-star dual-threat quarterback 2019 signee and early enrollee Roschon Johnson should also get his opportunity with the first and second-team offenses at some point.

Thompson and Johnson could both turn into elite athletes during their time on the Forty Acres, but the way the Horns recruited at quarterback lately means some difficult competition in the near future. Johnson needs to get an edge while he can now while the depth is thin in the quarterback room for Texas.
