4. Brennan Eagles has a big breakthrough

Piecing together the emerging receiving corps for Texas football was more of a task for the coaching staff last off-season. The way that wide receivers coach Drew Mehringer recruited for the Horns this past cycle, there is more than enough talent to make this position group the top on the Forty Acres for the next few years.

Texas has so much depth in the receiving corps that it could also become the best group in the Big 12. Senior wideouts Collin Johnson and Devin Duvernay will lead the way alongside the speedy fifth-year John Burt (when he returns from the Longhorns track program). There will be a few new receivers in the rotation this fall, though.

Moreover, there should be a lot of excitement surrounding the potential of what the five incoming wide receivers from the 2019 signing class can do. Five-star wideouts Bru McCoy and Jordan Whittington obviously highlight this mix of incoming talents, but four-stars Jake Smith and Marcus Washington will be exciting too.

Two wide receivers that are somewhat going under the radar right now are the 2018 four-star signees for the Horns, Brennan Eagles and Joshua Moore. This year, Moore could be the Texas starter at the H-wide receiver spot. That would put him as the slot. Eagles will have more of an uphill battle, but watch out for him to make some progress in taking over for Johnson after his eligibility with the program is up.
