3. Cade Brewer emerges as a legit passing game threat

It will be very interesting to watch what happens at tight end for Texas football throughout the off-season, not just spring camp. The rise of production in the passing game from the tight end position really helped this Texas offense reach the next level and stay balanced week in and week out.

Most of the indication as to what happens with the tight end spot during the off-season will be figured out at the spring football game. This battle at tight end for the Horns could wind up boiling down to the four-star 2019 signee Brayden Liebrock and rising redshirt sophomore Cade Brewer. Also watch out for the early enrollee and three-star 2019 signee Jared Wiley.

What’s going to hurt tight end for the Horns more so than anything else is the departure of the senior starter Andrew Beck. Last year, Beck was again one of the better blockers for Texas while having a career year in the receiving game. Beck was also one of the senior captains this past season.

Brewer wasn’t able to make much of an impact last year due to injury, but he is a capable blocker and receiver when healthy. The real test firs Brewer comes with how much he can contribute compared to the rest of the field for this group of Horns targets in the passing game.
