1. Rising stars in the receiving corps

There’s no way any Texas football fans could realistically feel better about what’s in store for the receiving corps this year than with the depth at hand right now. Texas had a huge day in the passing game thanks to a nice effort from Thompson and early enrollee Roschon Johnson and the electric group of wideouts and tight ends.

We got to see firsthand what even the second and third-team groups of wide receivers and tight ends could do against a host of former four and five-star signees on the defensive side of the ball. A few players worth noting that shined for the Horns passing game here included tight end Cade Brewer and the former tight end converted to receiver Malcolm Epps.

The move from tight end to wideout is fitting Epps well thus far, as he shined alongside the pair of second year receivers featuring Joshua Moore and Brennan Eagles. Most of these four aforementioned receivers posted at least one highlight reel play in this scrimmage, especially Epps and Brewer.

Having Thompson slinging it all over the place fit nicely with how well this group of first and second-year wide receiver showed out in this spring scrimmage. In the absence of star senior wide receivers for the Horns like Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson, this position group couldn’t have impressed much more than it did in action yesterday.
