#85 Malcolm Epps – Wide Receiver

Redshirt Freshman (6-6, 245)

Malcolm Epps was recruited to Texas as a tight end out of high school in the 2018 recruiting cycle, but has since switched positions to wide receiver. Epps maintained his redshirt by only playing in a two games as freshman, with his one highlight being a catch for 18 yards in the road win over Texas Tech.

With Collin Johnson returning for his senior season, Epps will probably play limited minutes behind him in 2019. In addition to providing depth to the wide receiver room, you could see Epps called upon in red-zone situations because of his size advantage. With his massive 6-foot-6 frame, Epps should be able to man handle corners in terms of possession and 50/50 jump balls.

With Johnson likely not playing on Saturday, Epps will get a ton of reps with the first team offense and could make a splash or two in the passing game. Herman has praised Epps this offseason, and the Longhorn faithful will get a good look at what Epps brings to the table during the spring game.
