Texas Football: 5 Orange-White Game bold predictions
1. Kobe Boyce is the best cornerback on Saturday
There’s a lot on the line for the cornerbacks for Texas football on April 13. This is about the best shot they will have to impress Herman and defensive coordinator Todd Orlando to prove they deserve a shot in a starting role this fall. Until fall camp arrives, this group of cornerbacks will have a long road to prove they belong.
The Big 12 is not a forgiving conference in terms of being nice to opposing defensive backs. There’s going to be a good list of offenses once again in the Big 12 that have top passing games and wideouts in the nation. The Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oklahoma Sooners, and Texas Tech Red Raiders are just a few offenses that come to mind.
However, what the Horns can do in this spring football game is figure out who the two frontrunners should be for the two starting corner spots. Three names that immediately come to mind include redshirt sophomore Kobe Boyce, redshirt freshman Jalen Green, and sophomore Anthony Cook.
A few other defensive backs to watch this weekend includes fourth-year safety Josh Thompson and sophomore nickelback B.J. Foster. With Foster likely returning from concussion protocol to suit up for Texas this weekend, he could be one of the best players on the field on the defensive side of the ball.
