#4 Anthony Cook – Cornerback

Sophomore (6-1, 190)

With starting cornerbacks Kris Boyd and Davante Davis graduating from the Texas program, both of the outside cornerback spots are now up for grabs and sophomore Anthony Cook seems primed to take one of those spots.

Playing in 14 games as a freshman Cook spent most of his time on special teams, but he did earn a start against Oklahoma State due to Boyd and Davis’ suspensions. Cook logged 18 total tackles, a sack and a pass breakup during his 2018 campaign, with a highlight performance of six tackles and one pass defended versus West Virginia.

Cook was apart of the elite defensive back haul that Herman reeled in during the 2018 recruiting cycle, and he was ranked as the number 10 cornerback in the country and number seven overall recruit in the state of Texas according to 247Sports composite rankings. Cook was described as a technician coming out of high school, with the tools to become a shut-down man to man corner.

A good performance in the spring game could earn Cook a starting spot for the up coming season, so watch out for Cook as he could have some impressive plays against Texas football wide receivers and make the most of his opportunity on Saturday.
