It’s hard to imagine what this Texas basketball team could do with a backcourt that features three or four capable guards on a nightly basis. Texas needs someone to fill in for the departure of senior shooting guard Kerwin Roach Jr., and four-star Missouri City, TX, shooting guard Donovan Williams could be that guy.

Texas could have a dangerous duo at the wing starting next season between Williams and to-be junior Jase Febres. Williams is a solid shooter for Elkins High School basketball, but Febres has the potential to be the lights out, space the floor, option on the wing. Meanwhile, Williams could be more of a primary ball-handler that thrives on both ends of the floor.

Williams ranks as the nation’s No. 58 2019 high school prospect and the No. 6 shooting guard. He could be a truly special wing if he fulfills his massive potential that started to shine through in summer ball in 2018. He’s also starting to show more promise as an outside shooter during his senior campaign at Elkins.

More of the strengths of his game include his facilitating and ball handling abilities, driving the lane, and guarding numerous positions on the floor. If he can get his outside shooting progressed more once he reaches the Forty Acres this summer, he could truly become one of the more potent two-way wings in the Big 12.
