Two of the bigger defensive back targets for the 2020 Texas football recruiting class were lost on April 17. What are the Longhorns losing out on?

It is the 2020 Texas football recruiting class that could either continue this program’s rise to national prominence or could cloud the direction. Either way, the efforts on the recruiting trail for the 2020 cycle have to be solid for head Texas football coach Tom Herman. We’re heading into a key part of the 2019 off-season that really only features summer workouts for recruits to see.

Spring ball could’ve had more commits come along for Texas football over the course of the last month or so, but nothing really came of it. Junior Day was the last successful recruiting haul for the Longhorns for this 2020 class.

Moreover, the 2020 Texas football recruiting class is yet to land a single defensive commit. All five of the commits in store for this recruiting class come on the offensive side of the ball, and are mostly offensive linemen. There are three offensive line commits in this 2020 class currently, highlighted by four-star guard Logan Parr.

While adding all these pieces to the Texas offense is good for the future of the program, the defense needs to continue its strong lineage of success on the recruiting trail.

Within the past few days, the 2020 Texas football recruiting class lost out on the opportunity to haul in two key defensive back targets. Another key defensive target, four-star Houston, TX, and Cy Creek outside linebacker Josh White, was lost to the LSU Tigers.

But, here’s a deeper look into the impact that losing to huge defensive back targets will have for the Texas Longhorns football program in the 2020 recruiting class.
