The less surprising of the two commits that the Texas football program lost out on is the four-star Carrollton, TX, safety Darius Snow. If nothing else, the Longhorns will be deep at safety for a long time, and a host of 2020 targets for this program have the Forty Acres among their top landing spots.

Moreover, it appeared that Snow wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and give his pledge to play for the Michigan State Spartans. It looked as if head coach Mark Dantonio and Michigan State was the front runner to land Snow’s commitment during most of his recruiting within the past eight or 12 months.

Snow announced his commitment to Michigan State on April 17 and thus gave the Spartans one of their highest rated commits in the past few recruiting cycles. He picked Michigan State over the Longhorns, Alabama Crimson Tide, and Arkansas Razorbacks. Texas had a good shot to land him, but couldn’t get it done before April 17.

As previously mentioned, the loss of Snow on the recruiting trail to the Spartans was somewhat expected, but still hurts a bit. He is rated as one of the nation top 20 2020 high school safety prospects. It is also good to keep safety talent in this state. But, Texas can deal with this loss more so than the next one we have here.
