Texas Football: 5 key targets closing commitment decisions
Similar to what is set to likely transpire in the recruitment of four-star 2020 cornerback Joel Williams, winning over the commitment of four-star 2020 defensive tackle Jacobian Gillory could be an uphill battle. LSU seems to be attempting to lock down the interests of Guillory and Williams as we get closer to the end of the 2019 off-season.
Beating out head coach Ed Orgeron and the LSU football program on the recruiting trail is something that Herman and the Longhorns are capable of doing. But, both LSU and Texas are on the rise nationally at the moment. It could be a game with huge implications on the recruiting trail come the LSU-Texas non-conference showdown on Sep. 7.

Texas was able to make headway in winning over the interests of Guillory to the Forty Acres in some regard of late as he put them among his top five landing spots. Herman will be battling the SEC to land Guillory. The other four schools in his top five were all from the SEC including Georgia, Alabama, LSU, and Texas A&M.
Guillory ranks as the nation’s No. 146 2020 high school prospect and a top 15 defensive tackle. He is also ranked as a top five prospect out of the state of Louisiana. He will have a ton of attention from LSU in the coming months. It won’t be easy for the Longhorns moving forward. But, the 6-foot-2 and 330 pound defensive line anchor could be huge for Texas.
