Cornerback. Redshirt Freshman. 3. player. 819. Pick Analysis. Noah Boykin. Scouting Report

For the past few recruiting cycles, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and head coach Brian Kelly added a ton of depth at cornerback. Most of the cornerback signees that the Fighting Irish landed weren’t of the elite five-star recruit variety. Yet, there were plenty of highly touted three and four-star prospects that made their way to South Bend, IN.

One of those four-star cornerbacks that signed with Notre Dame last year that is now in the transfer portal is redshirt freshman Noah Boykin. As a Washington D.C. native that had offers from more than 30 schools, Boykin could have pretty open options on the transfer market. A few notable schools he held offers from out of high school included the Clemson Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Tennessee Volunteers.

This past season, Boykin didn’t get any playing time for a Notre Dame secondary that sat among the nation’s best and most experienced. If nothing else, Boykin definitely got a good year of learning experience under his belt sitting behind defensive backs like cornerback Julian Love and safety Jalen Elliott.

Much like Myers would be for Texas football, Boykin would be more of a long-term play that could progress into a big role that ideally fits with what Orlando likes to do in the secondary. Texas needs big and athletic cornerbacks that have the capability of handling a heavy load of responsibility on an island week in and week out.
