Texas Football: 4 best remaining transfer CB options
The most experienced option on this list overall for Texas football to consider is a former three-star cornerback signee of the Oregon State Beavers from quite a few years back, senior Jay Irvine. If Irivine is leaving Oregon State, he has to feel like he could win a starting job at another Power Five program for his final year of eligibility.
Heading into the 2019 off-season, Oregon State and head coach Jonathan Smith had to be anticipating that Irvine would be a key proven contributor returning to Corvallis. Instead, the depth in a very thin Oregon State secondary will get even scarier for a group that could have a hard time competing in the PAC-12 this fall.
Irvine brings with him 24 career total tackles, one tackle for loss, and two pass deflections. Most of the playing time for Irvine came during his sophomore and junior seasons in 2016 and 2017. He does have ideal size at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds and looks to have all the makings of an immediate impact type transfer for a team like Texas.
Coming out of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, FL, during the 2015 recruiting cycle, Irvine held just six offers. Oregon State was actually one of the bigger schools he had on his offer sheet. A few others to note were the UCF Knights, Purdue Boilermakers, and Wisconsin Badgers.
