Texas Football: 5 most important May 2021 recruiting targets
This could be a crucial time for the Texas football program to start winning over a handful of the top 2021 prospects already offered.
The first weekend of official visits recently kicked off for the Texas football program last weekend. The first full weekend in the month of May was also the initial time for head Texas football coach Tom Herman to officially bring top 2020 and 2021 recruiting targets to the Forty Acres since the end of spring ball.
With the dead period of the 2019 college football off-season taking full hold at the end of spring camp for every program, recruiting is one of the few active storylines. Texas football needs to get the recruiting ball rolling soon too. The 2020 and 2021 cycles are now the primary focus for college football coaching staffs.
Within the past five days, the Longhorns started handing out offers in bunches. Texas had already offered more than 75 2020 high school prospects, but it is now just getting up and running with sending out 2021 offers. Since the Longhorns aren’t accustomed to sending out an overwhelming amount of offers anyway under Herman’s direction, a slow start to the process shouldn’t surprise anyone.
Nonetheless, Texas looks to have a growing number of 2021 recruits that were already offered that could start drawing more interest in playing for this football program. Getting off on the right foot with the nation’s top 2021 recruits, and top targets for Texas in general, can set the stage for a successful recruiting cycle when it’s all said and done.
Here’s a deeper look into the five most important 2021 recruiting targets for the Texas Longhorns football program to start winning over during the month of May.
