Sam Ehlinger, Quarterback

There was a quarterback battle that transpired for the Texas football program for the past two off-seasons heading all the way into fall camp. Yet, last year it felt like then sophomore signal caller Sam Ehlinger was the head and shoulders favorite above then rising junior Shane Buechele.

Ehlinger wound up winning the quarterback battle and never looking back, aside from a lingering shoulder injury that caused him to miss a bit of game action. He is the vocal and spiritual leader for Texas, and that shouldn’t change until his time on the Forty Acres is done.

The growing cause for concern in Game of Thrones almost constantly for the hero and lead character of the show thus far, Jon Snow, is his courage and willingness to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Doesn’t that sound familiar? That does in a less intense way at least.

Yet, Ehlinger and Jon are the most similar figureheads when comparing Game of Thrones with current prominent stars for the Longhorns. Ehlinger is the lead for this Longhorns offense, as Jon is for the GoT characters of the North. That is true whether Dany likes that or despises it.
