Texas Football: Top Longhorns as Game of Thrones characters
Malcolm Roach, Edge Rusher
Making the move from B-linebacker to edge rusher/defensive end for rising senior Malcolm Roach for this defense for Texas football could be a positive change for him. Roach had a foot injury that hampered him this past season, but he could come back stronger than ever during his final year of eligibility in 2019.
This fall, Roach is the most experienced projected starter coming back for the Longhorns along the front seven. Texas lost five key starters on the defensive line and at linebacker. It will be up to Roach to help the transition period see itself through in the front seven.
However, the best comparison between Roach and any Game of Thrones character with any high level of prominence of late is Theon Greyjoy. Theon helped Bran Stark stay alive during the third episode and the war against the dead. Without spoiling too much for Longhorns fans that didn’t see very far yet in Season Eight, we can just say that Theon is an important character.
But as Roach is like for the Longhorns, Theon is a character that comes and goes in terms of importance and presence on GoT. Roach is hoping to have a big final run on the Forty Acres, as Theon did in the final season of this great show.
