Samuel Cosmi, Offensive Tackle

Finding the right solution for the Texas football offensive line last season was a huge task for Herman, and he was able to actually pull it all together. Herman started off by hiring former Auburn Tigers offensive line coach Herb Hand to be the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the Longhorns.

And, the Longhorns saw then redshirt freshman offensive tackle Samuel Cosmi emerge as one of the best options along the entirety of the offensive line. Cosmi wound up as one of the two Texas freshmen that was named a USA Today Freshman All-American, along with Sterns at safety.

Cosmi is the “guard of the backfield” if you’d like to think of him like that. He was huge to holding up the pocket to let both the passing game and ground game develop more last year so that Herman could see his offense expand and excel in his second year at the helm. Hand also had a large role in that improvement in the trenches.

Cosmi’s best Game of Thrones character mirror would be someone that is known as a fearful guard for royalty. That fits well with Gregor Clegane, or ‘The Mountain’, as his size would indicate. Clegane started out as a guard for the Lannisters and his brother worked his way over to fighting for the North. This is a very good fit for Cosmi in the GoT world.
