Texas Football: Top Longhorns as Game of Thrones characters
Devin Duvernay, Wide Receiver
This comparison won’t stretch (no pun intended) to the point where rising senior wideout and former Baylor Bears commit Devin Duvernay is considered much less of a weapon and much smaller than his fellow senior star receiver. Yet, the similarities between Tyrion Lannister on Game of Thrones and Duvernay with the Texas football program are relevant.
Tyrion spent much of the recent seasons of Game of Thrones as an advisor to the queen. But he’s also done his fair share of fighting and escaping from missions and ventures that went horribly awry. Tyrion and Jaime are also two very closely tied characters in the show, which is a main difference between the former and Duvernay.
Yet, Duvernay is the speedy smaller wideout that can work in the slot and get free on intermediate routes. He had a rocky road to get to the point where he’s at with the Longhorns, but he’s surely earned his role in the receiving corps.
Duvernay should thrive this year in the absence of former Texas wide receiver and 2019 NFL Draft early entrant Lil’Jordan Humphrey (now with the New Orleans Saints). Tyrion is in the midst of a pivotal role in this season of GoT too. The timelines of these two matchup very well.
