With the Texas football program rising to the point of national contention at this last season, who would be the best opponents to see this fall?

The Texas football program is starting to find out how much the hype is building heading into the fall of 2019, when this team could be ranked among the top 10 in the nation and start out directly in College Football Playoff contention. At the outset of spring camp, Texas football had a laundry list of tasks to figure out and the coaching staff did well to get through that.

Head Texas football coach Tom Herman did all he could to get his team in position to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff and the Big 12 Championship last season. Texas football fell just one quarter shy of winning the Big 12 Championship Game over the Oklahoma Sooners and knocking Heisman-winning quarterback Kyler Murray out of Playoff position.

However, the 2019 schedule for the Texas football program won’t be easy to get through. It features a host of difficult opponents, including a non-conference slate that is highlighted mainly by hosting the LSU Tigers at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and facing a quality Group of Five opponent in the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

The Big 12 slate is never an easy road for the Longhorns either. Yet, there are a host of other blue blood opponents and former rivals that Texas football fans would have to love to see their team face this fall that might not happen no matter what.

Here’s a deeper look into what the Texas Longhorns football program has slated on tap for the upcoming 2019 regular season, and what fans would love to see from them in terms of opponents in the postseason or what should be scheduled for this fall.
