2. Clemson Tigers

The other top college football program in the nation at the moment alongside Alabama is head coach Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. Clemson and Alabama are likely to come into the 2019 regular season as the nation’s top two ranked teams, and with good reason.

With all the success that Swinney and the Tigers found lately, it would be fun to see what Texas football could do against that building juggernaut. Clemson has possibly the best quarterback in the nation in rising sophomore former five-star 2018 signee Trevor Lawrence and a Heisman contender at running back in Travis Etienne.

If the recent interest that former Clemson running back Tavien Feaster has in landing on the Forty Acres turns into something this off-season out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, that would add a lot of intrigue to a prospective Texas-Clemson battle. Feaster was a big part of the Clemson backfield for the past three seasons along with Etienne for two of those.

With all these reasons in mind for why watching the Longhorns take on Clemson would be entertaining, there is one that sits above all the rest. Texas and Clemson never met on the gridiron. If these two face off during the postseason anytime soon, it would be a high-stakes matchup for the first time between these two giants.
