1. Texas A&M Aggies

Would we expect anything else to be at the top of the list here for opponents we’d love to see Texas football face in 2019? The Texas A&M Aggies have faced the Longhorns 118 times in program history, with only 37 wins going in their favor.

With Texas A&M bringing in a new athletic director and still under a fresh coaching regime under former Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher, there is a renewed spirit that the Lone Star Showdown could happen again soon. But, smarter college football fans should know that this matchup won’t happen for a long time during the regular season.

However, we can always hope that the Longhorns and Aggies will end up meeting again either in the postseason for a New Year’s Six Bowl or in the College Football Playoff. The last time that these two long-time rivals met was back during Thanksgiving week in 2011, where the Longhorns emerged victorious.

Can we imagine the stakes and money that would be poured into a College Football Playoff Semifinals or National Championship Game between Texas and Texas A&M? There might not be a single matchup that could happen in a national title game that would have more on the line between two fan bases.
