Texas Football: Ranking 4 biggest 2019 offseason losses thus far
Carter and Houston will have various impacts with their departures on the running back room for the Texas football program. Carter lands with Sam Houston State at the FCS level and Houston remains uncommitted to another landing spot.
But the most experience that was coming back previous for the Longhorns for this fall was to-be redshirt junior Kyle Porter. Given how Porter pretty much sat out most of the 2018 regular season for Texas, we knew his transfer intentions early on. There was still the slight chance that he returned to the Forty Acres for spring ball, but it wasn’t likely.
The production just wasn’t there from Porter lately, but he did have three years of playing experience with the Longhorns under his belt. He was pretty productive for this Texas ground game in 2016 as a true freshman. Those numbers started to fall off in 2017 and on into the start of the 2018 regular season.
Porter will take with him more than 500 total yards from scrimmage on 141 touches and six touchdowns for his career with the Longhorns. With former West Virginia Mountaineers head coach Dana Holgorsen taking over at Houston, Porter could find himself in a good situation come the fall.
