Texas Football: Ranking 4 biggest 2019 offseason losses thus far
Texas football brings back one of the Big 12’s, and possibly one of the nation’s, most potent receiving corps for the 2019 season. Texas just has too much raw talent that is coming back to not be able to torch almost every opposing secondary it will face in Big 12 play this year. That will put a lot of pressure on Ehlinger’s shoulders to spark the Texas passing game.
However, Ehlinger will be working in the passing game this season without his favorite target from 2018. Breakthrough former junior Texas wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey made for a very interesting off-season conversation since he declared early for the 2019 NFL Draft. Humphrey was the only early entrant into this year’s draft from the Longhorns.
The thought of Humphrey returning to Texas to allow offensive coordinator Tim Beck to work with him and rising star senior Collin Johnson would make the fan’s mouths water. NFL scouts should already have their mouths watering over what the 6-foot-6 Johnson brings to the table for this coming season and the 2020 NFL Draft.
Yet, after amassing his first career 1,000-receiving yard season, Humphrey ditched and went to the NFL. That didn’t go according to plan since he wound up as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints. We hope for the best for LJ at the next level. He does have a good set of skill position talent around him with the Saints.
