Texas football is now officially down Bru McCoy at wide receiver with him landing back with the USC Trojans. Who could replace him?

Texas football had a transfer problem this off-season, there’s no doubt about it. The good part about that was that most of the names put into the NCAA Transfer Portal up to that point weren’t huge losses. That was until Texas football figured out that its highest rated signee of the 2019 recruiting class wanted to go back to the school he had originally transferred in from.

That player that Texas football lost out on was the former five-star athlete/wide receiver recruit Bru McCoy. He recently up and decided to take his talents back to the place he originally committed, signed, and enrolled early at with the USC Trojans.

The news became official on June 11 that McCoy joined back up with hot seat-head coach Clay Helton and USC. McCoy put his name in the transfer portal twice in a span of less than five months. But it looks like he wanted to be closer to home and to family. He hails from Santa Ana, CA, and was a product of Mater Dei High School in the 2019 class.

Moreover, there’s not a huge need for Texas football to add depth in the receiving corps with McCoy linking back up with USC. But Texas is all of a sudden shorthanded at wide receiver with second-year former four-star 2018 recruit Al’Vonte Woodard missing a few regular season games after ankle surgery and Jordan Whittington sliding over to running back. Obviously McCoy is out too.

If the Texas Longhorns football program does decide to look into adding a scholarship transfer wide receiver, who are three good candidates to pursue?
