Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma

A to-be rival that just moved over from the regime under Alabama head coach Nick Saban looked really good at the Elite 11 Finals last weekend. Hurts is set to join a head coach, Oklahoma’s Lincoln Riley, that just produced two straight No. 1 overall NFL Draft picks and Heisman Trophy winners with Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield.

What Hurts brings with him to the electric Oklahoma offense is 48 career passing touchdowns and just 12 interceptions. He also led Alabama to two National Championship Games and numerous SEC Titles during his time in Tuscaloosa.

It won’t be long until Texas football is taking on Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown, and possibly the Big 12 Championship Game for the second-year in a row. Hurts will be the next Oklahoma starting quarterback that the Longhorns defense has to deal with.

Nonetheless, Hurts did have a lot of good throws in his individual drills and full-field plays in the Elite 11. All-around he’s just a good athlete and has a good arm when he’s not put under pressure. The true test for him will be when he has the Texas defensive line and linebackers after him come Red River this fall.
