A pivotal month of July is looming for the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes with the Opening Finals and Elite 11 on tap.

In the midst of the Elite 11 and Opening Finals (not to mention a pivotal Rivals Camp Series finale last weekend), the 2020 Texas football recruiting class has a lot of targets and commits in motion. An important commitment of the 2020 Texas football recruiting class, four-star dual-threat quarterback Hudson Card, has himself a nice showing at the Elite 11 Finals and is now preparing to take part in the Opening Finals.

Texas football also had a successful month of June in terms of landing commitments. Within just the last 45 days, Texas landed pledges from three key 2020 and 2021 prospects in and around the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex. More feels like it could be on the way soon too.

There’s a lot to follow on the recruiting trail for Texas ahead of the final full month before college football returns. Week 0 comes back for college football later in the month of August. Recruiting is sure to ramp up before then. Official visits will also get scheduled before then too.

Official visit weekends make the various regular season games more impactful for the future of the program. Texas has such a pivotal non-conference schedule that recruiting will constantly be impacted come the fall. Targets for Texas will be waiting for the Big 12-SEC showdown against the LSU Tigers on Sep. 7.

Here’s a look at the four biggest recruiting storylines for the Texas Longhorns football program entering the month of July.
