1. Finalist prospect decisions

The 2020 Texas football recruiting class has a lot of potential, but is slipping in the national class rankings right now. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2020 recruiting class for the Longhorns ranks at No. 40 in the nation and at No. 6 in the Big 12 as of July 2.

Landing behind the Kansas State Wildcats and the Kansas Jayhawks in the Big 12 recruiting class rankings is no good look, but the Longhorns will recover. Head Texas football coach Tom Herman won’t let his recruiting class slip too far behind. This appears to be a big offseason on the recruiting trail.

On the horizon, Texas has three key commits that should be coming soon. Not to say that the Longhorns will land all three prospects. But Texas is a finalist for all three recruits. The first is four-star safety Lathan Ransom, who is trending toward to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The two that Texas has a legitimate shot at landing are four-star edge rusher Prince Dorbah and four-star defensive back Jahari Rogers. The decision dates are more set in stone for Dorbah and Ransom than Rogers, but all are nearing their commitment announcements. The most pivotal for Texas will be Dorbah, who is announcing on July 10.
