There’s going to be two categories that the early impact signees from the 2019 Texas football recruiting class will fall into. The first is going to be the players that need to be ready to step up for the spotlight at any given time due to injuries and lapses from starters that are less experienced.

The second amid that group of early impact 2019 signees for the Longhorns will be the true freshmen that need to be able to contribute immediately since their skill set shows they’re ready. Getting your body right for that role makes for an important run in summer workouts with Herman and McKnight.

Moreover, the category that the former four-star dual-threat quarterback Roschon Johnson should fall into is the players that could be tossed into the spotlight at any time. This is a very young quarterback room for the Longhorns, and Johnson plays a style that could have him take a beating with this offensive scheme.

The mobility and arm strength that Johnson brings to the table makes him a very potent option for a future starting quarterback for Texas. But before Johnson came to campus, he weighed less than 195 pounds so he needs to bulk up if Herman has any intentions of giving him early playing time this fall.
