A host of targets of the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes dropped their finalist schools. Which 2020 targets are worth following?

The end of the Elite 11 and Opening Finals pretty much caps the offseason events for the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes. Now, head Texas football coach Tom Herman can officially turn his focus and energy to preparing for fall camp and the beginning of the 2019 regular season, which is roughly seven weeks away now. It won’t be too long until the 2019 Texas football team takes to the field at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the season opener against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs.

In the meantime, a lot can still transpire on the recruiting trail that will directly impact the future of this program. Despite the dead period hitting for college football recruiting and the combines, showcases, and 7-on-7 tournaments all wrapping up soon (if not already), commitments and prospects trimming their finalist lists of schools will continue to happen in July and August.

The Opening Finals last week presented top recruits with a big spotlight to drop their finalist schools with a national audience following intently. It made the impact of their headlines even greater. Throughout the Elite 11 and Opening Finals, we got word about how some of the top Texas recruiting targets were leaning at this point of their recruitment too.

Building up the momentum for Texas should extend beyond the 2020 recruiting class. Texas is a key figure for a number of 2021 skilled recruiting targets.

Here’s a look into three is the most crucial 2020 recruiting targets that named the Texas Longhorns football program as one of their finalist schools that are important to follow as we approach the 2019 season.
