Running Back: D’Andre Swift, Georgia

Texas football already got a taste of what the Georgia Bulldogs ultra-talented starting running back D’Andre Swift brings to the table in the Sugar Bowl to cap the 2018 campaign. The impressive part for the Longhorns was the fact that the defense almost completely shut down the Georgia ground game.

During his sophomore campaign, the 5-foot-9 and 215 downhill running back Swift amassed more than 1,300 total yards from scrimmage and 13 touchdowns. If Swift takes another step forward like he did in 2018, he’ll become a true candidate to be a top running back in the nation and hence a true Heisman contender.

Where Sam Ehlinger holds an edge

Georgia has a gauntlet schedule facing them this fall. If head coach Kirby Smart and the Dawgs can’t keep up in the SEC this year, then Sam Ehlinger could just jump ahead in the Heisman race by nature. However, it will be difficult to keep Swift out of the Heisman conversation since his involvement in both the passing game and rushing attack make him a great candidate for a running back.
