Texas Football: Comparing Sam Ehlinger among top Heisman contenders
Other names to watch
Quarterback: Justin Herbert, Oregon
Potentially the top 2020 NFL Draft prospect on this list has to fall in Heisman contention to some degree. If the Oregon Ducks can find their way into PAC-12 Championship and College Football Playoff contention this fall, then rising senior quarterback Justin Herbert will keep his name in the thick of Heisman discussions the entire way.
Quarterback: Justin Fields, Ohio State
Transfer quarterbacks loom large this offseason. Ohio State’s Justin Fields landed in Columbus with first-year head coach Ryan Day after his time with Georgia was cut short. While it was an interesting decision that the NCAA granted him immediate eligibility out of the transfer portal, he fits the image of a true Heisman contender out of the gates.
Quarterback: Jake Fromm, Georgia
The second name that surfaces from the Georgia football program entering the 2019 regular season is rising junior quarterback Jake Fromm. Not only did Fromm manage to fight off two other Heisman Trophy contenders for the starting job with the Dawgs in the past two seasons (Fields and Washington’s Jacob Eason), he is ultra-efficient in the process with 54 career passing touchdowns to just 13 interceptions.
