We’re now around a month away from the beginning of fall camp and 50 days out from the start of the 2019 season for Texas football.

At the skill positions, it won’t be too much of a new-look offense for this Texas football team entering the 2019 regular season. The defensive side of the ball has more roster turnover across the starters and different position groups than the skill positions do on offense.

However, what does Texas football need to do to patch the holes along the offensive line? Texas lost three starters from last season’s squad on the line and has more inexperience than ever for head Texas football coach Tom Herman there. This is where having second-year co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Herb Hand comes into play.

Adding Hand to the coaching staff last year was a great move by Herman, and offensive coordinator Tim Beck looked to take a big step forward with his schematic implementation. The offense just in general looked much better under then sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger than it did in the previous five seasons.

What Texas does bring to the table this year on the offensive side of the ball too is a premier receiving corps and a very potent backfield. The running backs are young, but there is surely a lot of promise at the position. Wide receiver has a lot of talent and experience coming back to campus for the fall.

All this amounts to the spearhead that is Ehlinger. He’s the cog that will make this Texas offense go. The success of this offense ultimately comes down to him in 2019.

Here’s a deeper dive into the two-deep depth chart for this 2019 Texas Longhorns football team in the midst of summer workouts.
