Right Tackle Starter: Denzel Okafor, Junior

If this offensive line for Texas football is going to be anywhere near as productive and reliable as it was last year, then right tackle is going to be a focal point. Texas has a few options to work with at right tackle, but the starting role is going to start with the stocky 6-foot-4 and 310 pound rising junior Denzel Okafor.

Okafor at right tackle seems like a better fit after Kerstetter occupied this spot a lot in the past. With a firm center of gravity and overwhelming amount of strength when his motor is going consistently, Okafor is a good fit at this position. Can he hold up regularly against top pass rushers in the Big 12 and linebacker at the second level in the ground game?

Backup: Reese Moore, Redshirt Freshman

The future of the Texas offensive line is going to revolve around current mainstays like Cosmi and Kerstetter while also incorporating former four and five-star recruits like Angilau, Johnson, and redshirt freshman offensive tackle Reese Moore. There’s a good chance that Moore overtakes Okafor at some point in the next year-and-a-half at right tackle.

There might also not be any Texas offensive linemen still in their freshman year of eligibility that is more ready for early playing time than Moore. The 6-foot-6 and 300 pound standout is fleet-of-foot and came onto the Forty Acres last offseason with enough maturity in his game to get at least a bit of game action as a true freshman.
