Texas Football: Two-deep 2019 offensive depth chart
Z-Wide Receiver Starter: Devin Duvernay, Senior
There is a bright future for Texas football at the Z-wide receiver spot. Making those intermediate routes work really help Ehlinger when he’s not able to find his top target. When opposing Big 12 secondaries are putting double-coverage on Johnson, watch out for rising senior Devin Duvernay to explode.
Registering his best numbers in his collegiate career thus far on the Forty Acres last year, Duvernay racked up more than 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns. The speed that Duvernay brings to the table either coming out of the slot or working intermediate and deep routes makes his versatility and agility invaluable.
Backup: Joshua Moore, Sophomore
The main reason why the Longhorns have such a bright future at Z-wide receiver is the fact that this slot commands the most versatility under-the-radar for this offense. A number of former four and five-star recruits are going to be in contention to get this starting slot for the next two or three years.
At 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, rising sophomore Joshua Moore has a lot of potential to be the next guy to step up in a clear starting role after Duvernay’s time on the Forty Acres is up. Injuries held Moore to playing in just seven games last season. In those seven games he racked up seven catches for 53 yards and one touchdown.
