Left Guard Starter: Parker Braun, Senior

The biggest transfer nab for Texas football without a doubt this offseason was the former Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets skilled All-ACC offensive guard Parker Braun. Getting a huge push in the ground game will start with the strong and fleet-of-foot Braun. That’s what he specialized in during his years at Georgia Tech.

As a potential 2020 NFL Draft prospect, Braun still has a crucial senior campaign ahead. He likely left Georgia Tech initially due to the fact that long-time head coach Paul Johnson up and retired. Georgia Tech’s former triple-option offense could bring a much different look to the table in 2019. Texas nabbed Braun partly because of that.

Backup: Junior Angilau, Redshirt Freshman

Potentially the most highly touted second-year offensive linemen that the Longhorns have slotted as a backup this year is redshirt freshman guard Junior Angilau. Winning the battles in the trenches for Texas could stem beyond just the starters. The 6-foot-5 and 300 pound guard Angilau is a good answer to backup Braun and learn under him.

Angilau could get looks on either side of the offensive line come this fall. The former talented four-star Texas recruit is well-rounded in his size, strength, and fundamentals on the line. Angilau also has the foot speed to stay with opposing defensive linemen in the passing game to hold up the pocket and the ground game to get pushes to the second and third level.
