Texas Football: 10 most hated Oklahoma Sooners by Longhorns fans
If there was a spot on this list that could hold three No. 1 spots, then it would belong to the 2017 Heisman Trophy winner and the cocky and arrogant former Cleveland Browns No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield.
Starting off the Lincoln Riley-era with the Oklahoma offense in Norman, Mayfield got off the gates blistering hots in terms of numbers and production. He was a transfer walk-on from the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
Although, knocking off Mayfield and the Sooners in the 2015 Red River Showdown is a memory that will live on in Texas fans’ minds for a long time.
Coming from two rival schools in Oklahoma and Texas Tech puts together two of the hundreds of reasons why Texas football fans don’t like Mayfield. We ran a poll to see who the most hated Oklahoma football player of all-time was, at least for fans in recent memory. It looked like Baker was set to come out well-on top.
Between all the “Horns down” hand sign debate, hating on Sam Ehlinger, and just spreading a general dislike for the Longhorns, Mayfield is just so easy to hate for the burnt orange. He seems to always need to have a chip on his shoulder, even if there’s no viable reason to have one.
