A very different case for Oklahoma and Texas football fans than White is, a former top NFL Draft pick and Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Sam Bradford isn’t as hateable as he could be. He was a good guy off-the-field and didn’t do much away from the gridiron to frustrate Texas fans.

Bradford could actually be held in a much different light for Longhorns fans than another quarterback you could think of that racked up 50 touchdown passes in a single season. What also helped the case for the Longhorns to minimize the hate for a college quarterback as talented as Bradford was the fact that he lost two out of three while he was in the crimson colors in Red River.

Stoops and Bradford just couldn’t seem to get the best of Mack in the late 2000’s. When he was at his very best, so were the Longhorns. He was injured during the 2009 Red River Showdown after taking just six passing attempts.

It’s hard to compete with the insane numbers that Bradford put up during the 2008 season, with more than 4,700 passing yards and 50 touchdowns compared to just eight interceptions. He clearly deserved to win the Heisman Trophy by a landslide that season. But a successful Oklahoma quarterback with the “pretty boy” image to some degree is one to dislike for Texas fans.
