Jonathan Taylor. 4. Pick Analysis. Running Back. Junior. player. 809. Scouting Report

The reigning Doak Walker Award winner should be in line to have a massive junior campaign that could also see him slotted as one of the three Heisman finalists. Wisconsin Badgers third-year running back Jonathan Taylor is a stud that will also be a future first round NFL Draft pick, which could be next spring.

The two best running backs last season in terms of pure production in a bright national spotlight were clearly Taylor and Etienne. Taylor registered well over 2,000 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. He actually vaulted up from the numbers he registered as a freshman while playing in one less game.

If Taylor manages to post more than 2,000 rushing yards once again, no one in the college football landscape should be surprised. A steady dose of Taylor out of the backfield is about as good as it gets for any ground game in the nation this fall.

Where Ingram could hold the edge:

Taylor clearly has a hurdle in his way with the imbalance of the Wisconsin offense. Opposing defenses could load the box to try and shut down Taylor. Ingram has the balance of this Texas football offense to lean on and get chunk yards. Topping the production of Taylor is no easy feat, though. Opposition will have to do to Taylor what the Northwestern Wildcats and Iowa Hawkeyes did last season holding him under 4.5 yards per carry with no touchdowns.
