A player that spent slightly less than half his career with Texas football and the other half with the Mizzou Tigers fits into a similar category as Kelson. Former Texas five-star recruit and wide receiver Darius White only lasted two years on the Forty Acres before he uprooted himself and transferred to link up with Mizzou in the SEC East.

Both Kelson and White weren’t even good enough for the Longhorns to earn a permanent starting role at any point during their collegiate careers on the Forty Acres. White even spent one year redshirting with the Longhorns and then one year playing. His only year playing for this Texas offense came in 2011.

There’s quite a large gap between how big of a recruiting bust White was for Texas compared to Kelson. While Kelson at least contributed to the Texas defense to varying degrees over the course of three seasons, there really wasn’t anything that White offered.

Dropped passes and the inability to climb up the depth chart were the name of the game for White during his two years with Texas. Coming onto the Forty Acres, he was touted as a top 30 high school prospect in the nation and the No. 4 wide receiver. He finished his collegiate career with just over 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Well under 100 yards and just one touchdown of that career stat line came with Texas.
