Potentially the biggest offensive line recruit bust in the history of Texas football recruiting classes sits right here on the list with the former five-star offensive guard Tray Allen. Hailing from Grand Prairie, TX, and a product of South Grand Prairie High School, Allen was the nation’s top rated offensive guard recruit in the 2007 recruiting cycle.

Not only was Allen rated as the top offensive guard in the nation for the 2007 recruiting cycle, he was the No. 11 overall high school prospect. An Under Armour All-American Game participant and just a player that came onto the Forty Acres with expectations of turning his career to the NFL quickly, Allen flamed out after a number of chances to succeed.

After his sophomore season, it seemed like the coaching staff was getting impatient at the lack of development and vision for the game that Allen was displaying. He was tried at both offensive tackle and offensive guard during his time with the Longhorns, but nothing really stuck.

Most of his four seasons with Texas were either spent playing on special teams or injured. He missed the entirety of the 2010 season with a foot injury. Why Allen is this far up the list, despite his lack of contributions, is the fact that he was heralded as the No. 11 2007 high school prospect in the nation and the best offensive guard. He came far from living up to the billing.
