Texas Football: 10 biggest August Longhorns recruiting storylines
A big month of July for the next two Texas football recruiting classes could mean a prominent beginning to August with two key targets set to announce.
For both the 2020 and 2021 Texas football recruiting classes, the month of July was about as good as it gets for the offseason. The 2021 Texas football recruiting class capped the month of July by landing a top 100 ranked 2021 high school prospect in the nation with four-star athlete Billy Bowman. That was one of five commitments added to that 2021 recruiting class for Texas during the month of July.
With so many good things rolling in for Texas during the month of July on the recruiting trail, the results should spill over into August. Texas has a key prospect set to announce his commitment decision on Aug. 1 with four-star 2020 Duncanville safety Chris Thompson Jr. Just a few days after that, five-star Salpointe Catholic running back Bijan Robinson will announce his decision.
Moreover, with Texas set to kick-off its 2019 regular season on Aug. 31 at home against the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, recruiting could continue to ramp up. Fall camp also begins in just a few weeks to get things up and running for Texas.
If Texas continues the string of recruiting success it had in July, the 2020 and 2021 classes will keep rising up the national class rankings. At this moment, the 2020 recruiting class should have more urgency and needs more of a boost than the 2021 class.
What lies ahead for Texas for the month of August, with just a few weeks remaining until kick off against Louisiana Tech?
Here’s a look into the 10 biggest recruiting storylines for the 2020 and 2021 classes for the Texas Longhorns football program entering the month of August and the 2019 regular season.
