The Amway Coaches Poll for the 2019 preseason was released today with Texas football at No. 10. Who should the Longhorns be ranked above?

In a likely move that shouldn’t surprise many, the 2019 Texas football team notched itself a top 10 ranking in the nation in the release of the first major preseason poll. That first release for the upcoming 2019 regular season for a major top 25 ranking was the Amway Coaches Poll which dropped on Aug. 1.

You can view the entirety of the Amway Coaches Poll thanks to ESPN here.

The first AP Poll for the 2019 season still won’t be released here for a few weeks. Once we get closer and closer to the kick-off of “Week 0”, the AP Poll will release. Since there are actually quality games played in Week 0 this coming season, the AP Poll for the preseason matters a bit more.

In Week 0, the Miami Hurricanes will take on the Florida Gators and the Arizona Wildcats will battle the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. Three of those four aforementioned teams were all ranked in the top 25 in the Coaches Poll or had votes.

However, in Week 1, Texas is set to battle the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Aug. 31. Week 2 is where it really starts to be crucial for Texas as they host the LSU Tigers on Sep. 7.

Texas finished out the 2018 season with a 10-4 record and with a win in the Sugar Bowl over the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Last season also saw Texas claim regular season victories over the Oklahoma Sooners, USC Trojans, TCU Horned Frogs, and Iowa State Cyclones.

Here’s a look into the three teams that the Texas Longhorns football program should be ranked above in the first release of the Amway Coaches Poll ahead of the 2019 regular season.
