Which stars will be the most challenging for Texas football to cope with during the 2019 regular season with top tier competition like OU and LSU on tap.

By the usual considerations of a Big 12 program, Texas football has a pretty tough road ahead for the 2019 schedule. Texas football fans will have to watch as their team takes on no FCS opponents, one solid Group of Five team, and a premier blue blood program in Week 2 in the LSU Tigers.

The two other non-conference opponents for Texas in 2019 are the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and Rice Owls. Louisiana Tech will be a vastly superior Group of Five opponent for Texas than Rice. But Texas got out of having to pay more money for a lower tier FBS or FCS opponent to come to the Forty Acres by playing Rice at the home of the Houston Texans, NRG Stadium, in Week 3.

The Big 12 slate stacks up with a fun home schedule and interesting group of road and neutral site games. Texas gets the usual Red River Showdown at the original Cotton Bowl in Dallas in Week 6 against the rival Oklahoma Sooners. That is the only neutral site game this coming regular season.

At home, Texas gets the Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas Jayhawks, and Texas Tech Red Raiders. Texas faces the Baylor Bears, TCU Horned Frogs, Iowa State Cyclones, and West Virginia Mountaineers all on the road. Louisiana Tech and LSU are both at home.

All in all, Texas doesn’t have to leave its home state a whole lot. Traveling to face Iowa State and West Virginia are the only two games where Texas leaves the place where everything is bigger. But Texas also has a loaded slate full of star-level competition.

Who are the five biggest stars for fans of the Texas Longhorns football program to watch during the 2019 regular season?
